Game Preview: Escape of the Minibots
January 17, 2011 - 8:21 amI’ve been all hush hush with its development, but today, it has finally reached a point where it is good enough to be revealed to the public.
Ladies and Gents, here’s my latest game: Escape of the Minibots!

“Wait, there’s nothing special about this ga…. WAIT! Why are there two characters on the screen!?”
Aha! You’re quite keen, my good sir! That is because this game employs a unique game mechanic where instead of just controlling one character, you control two or more simultaneously! This introduces a whole new puzzle-platforming experience where you need to think of a solution so that all characters can get to their goals safely.
Here’s what the game would look like with four characters to control:
The whole thing may look a little too daunting but trust me, once you get the hang of how the game plays, this kind of puzzle will be a cinch.
You might also notice in the screenshot above that there are a number of familiar platforming elements like the humble pushable box, push buttons, and the laser harzards. These things will make up most of the levels and help create stages with varying difficulty. But that’s not all, there are more gameplay elements that I’ll be adding in the near future.
So what’s the story with this one? Why are some of the robots smiling and some are not? And why are they yellow!?
I don’t want to reveal anything about the story as of now. More will be revealed in the following days.
Ok, I’m itching to play! Where can I get the game?
Unfortunately, the game is not out yet. I am still working on the engine for the game. Most of the stuff are already working, with the exception of some that needs fixing and a little tweaking. I will, however, be releasing some demos for the game here on my blog from time to time. It is at this crucial time where I will be needing your excitement so that you could test the game out and uncover bugs.
How long do I have to wait before I could get my hands on a final playable version?
My target is somewhere around late February or early March. It’s hard to tell since I’m still around 50% of the development stage. It will all depend on how busy I am as I still have school and some freelance design work.
Awesome! How can I stay updated on the development of the game?
